Read the first 3 chapters of The Breakup Support Group!

It’s been three weeks since my newest teen novel was released into the world. I’ve been busy giving out bookmarks and swag and spreading the word so people can find it and hopefully enjoy the story of Isla Rush, a girl who gets her heart broken and then slowly put back together again. And let me tell you, it has been slow going.

It is so very hard to get your book into the hands of readers, especially when you’re published by a small press. Big books get big attention and small books fall by the wayside. Many authors know this struggle so well: You finally get your book published, and then no one knows about it.

So I thought it’d be fun to share a three chapter excerpt with you on the blog today. Although many readers have told me the ending of chapter 5 is epic and lol-worthy and also kick ass, the first three chapters should get you hooked and wanting to read more. (In my authorly opinion, at least.)

So click here to read it since WordPress doesn’t let me embed HTML code and then please leave me a comment telling me what you thought!

Read the first three chapters of The Breakup Support Group now!

PS- If anyone knows how to embed HTML code into WordPress, I’d love to hear about it!

It’s an ebook birthday miracle!

Today is my birthday!

I also woke up and discovered that my new release, The Breakup Support Group, is on sale for $1 on Amazon! WHATTT!?!? I don’t even know why. I’m guessing maybe the wonderful people at Amazon chose my book for a Cyber Monday sale? Maybe my publisher did it for my birthday? Who knows? I have no idea how long this sale price will last, but I’m excited and you should be, too!

The Breakup Support Group is a fun romantic teen novel about Isla, a girl who gets dumped by her long time boyfriend. Heartbroken, she joins a support group at school, only to meet the handsome and troublesome Emory Underwood, a guy sent to the support group to atone for all the hearts he’s broken over the years.

It’s release day!

It always seems like it takes so long from the time you finish writing a book to when it’s released. In reality, The Breakup Support Group went from book offer to publication in eight months, but it felt so much longer! I am so glad to share my book baby with you all.

The Breakup Support Group is a fun teen romance about Isla, a girl who gets her heart broken by her long time boyfriend. On top of that, she has to go to a new high school for senior year. While she’s wallowing in heart ache, the school counselor sends her to a peer group that meets during lunch. All of the members are currently heartbroken and are helping each other heal. Things are going fine, and Isla might even be getting over her broken heart, until Emory Underwood shows up.

The eBook is only $2.99 on Amazon and the paperback got delayed, but it should be available soon. Once I get paperbacks I will be doing a fun giveaway so stay tuned!

Here are some fun links:

As always, I would Loooooooove it if you left a review on Amazon and Goodreads when you’re finished! Short reviews are fine with me. (It’s the quantity that counts!)

💔 Cover reveal for THE BREAKUP SUPPORT GROUP! 💔

YOU GUYS! I’ve waited SO LONG for this day! I am absolutely delighted to share the cover of my next novel for teens, THE BREAKUP SUPPORT GROUP! It’s being published by Swoon Romance on November 22, 2016. I’m totally in love with this cover and it fits the novel perfectly! Are you ready for it?

*drum roll*

Isn’t it AMAZING? I’m so happy with what my publisher came up with for this book! Check out the blurb & giveaway below!

After four years of first love bliss, Isla Rush just got dumped. Any hope she has of winning her ex-boyfriend back is shattered when the town rezones her neighborhood, forcing her to spend senior year at a wealthy high school in the next town over. With a broken heart consuming her soul, Isla can’t focus on anything in class. Hell, she can barely get out of bed each morning. Her new school has too many confusing hallways, unfriendly faces, and Emory Underwood—a ridiculously hot guy who dates a new girl almost every day. She can’t help but crush on him, even though she knows it’s wrong.

When memories of her ex make her cry in second period, the school counselor sends Isla to a club that meets during lunch. The Break UpSupport Group is a collection of broken-hearted misfits who are all trying to help each other heal. For the first time since her break up, Isla’s heart is on the mend now that she has the support group. Then Emory shows up, forced to atone for all the broken hearts he’s caused over the years. While hiding her massive crush, she helps him understand the seriousness of breaking a heart and he helps her get back on the dating scene.

Part of her peer-prescribed therapy is to learn the art of dating around. Emory offers to be her fake date for the homecoming dance, and she’s happy to accept. He’s just a crush, after all—she can handle a night of playing pretend. When the date ends with a toe-curling kiss on her front porch, all of her well-placed boundaries come crumbling down. After months of therapy, the pieces of her heart are finally healed. And now she just handed it over to a guy who only knows how to break them.

Inspiration Collages and Writing

Collage of inspiration photos for The Breakup Support Group

As the days are slowly passing until the release of my next book, The Breakup Support Group, I thought I’d share my inspiration collage for it. I used to make inspiration boards after I’d written a book, as a way for the reader to see some images that relate to the book as I imagined it in my head. When I was plotting The Breakup Support Group, I made an inspiration board before I started writing. It ended up being really fun to look back on the pictures while I worked on the story.

I decided to make a board for my current WIP and I saved it as my computer wallpaper. It’s a great way to help me stay motivated while working on the manuscript! I think I’m definitely hooked on inspiration collages.

If you’re a writer, do you use inspiration photos? Let me know in the comments!

PS- The Breakup Support Group releases on 11/22/16! You can add it to Goodreads here. And make sure you’re signed up for my newsletter because I’ll be giving away paperbacks, gift cards, and a compass bracelet to celebrate release day!
