It’s an ebook birthday miracle!

Today is my birthday!

I also woke up and discovered that my new release, The Breakup Support Group, is on sale for $1 on Amazon! WHATTT!?!? I don’t even know why. I’m guessing maybe the wonderful people at Amazon chose my book for a Cyber Monday sale? Maybe my publisher did it for my birthday? Who knows? I have no idea how long this sale price will last, but I’m excited and you should be, too!

The Breakup Support Group is a fun romantic teen novel about Isla, a girl who gets dumped by her long time boyfriend. Heartbroken, she joins a support group at school, only to meet the handsome and troublesome Emory Underwood, a guy sent to the support group to atone for all the hearts he’s broken over the years.

It’s release day!

FINALLY!

It always seems like it takes so long from the time you finish writing a book to when it’s released. In reality, The Breakup Support Group went from book offer to publication in eight months, but it felt so much longer! I am so glad to share my book baby with you all.

The Breakup Support Group is a fun teen romance about Isla, a girl who gets her heart broken by her long time boyfriend. On top of that, she has to go to a new high school for senior year. While she’s wallowing in heart ache, the school counselor sends her to a peer group that meets during lunch. All of the members are currently heartbroken and are helping each other heal. Things are going fine, and Isla might even be getting over her broken heart, until Emory Underwood shows up.

The eBook is only $2.99 on Amazon and the paperback got delayed, but it should be available soon. Once I get paperbacks I will be doing a fun giveaway so stay tuned!

Here are some fun links:

As always, I would Loooooooove it if you left a review on Amazon and Goodreads when you’re finished! Short reviews are fine with me. (It’s the quantity that counts!)

mjyol-ebook-final-640x1024Junior year is supposed to be tough. Exams, term papers, homework, college tours, and participation in extra-curricular activities can all add up to non-stop stress. But Melinda Banner has goals to achieve and dreams to make real. This year, she’ll be unstoppable. But even over achievers need a break.

While walking in the woods to take a break from the stress of it all, Melinda meets a boy named Connor. After a few more run-ins, the two settle into an uneasy friendship, if you can even call it that.

But Connor’s closed and mysterious. Whenever Melinda asks too many questions, he suddenly has to go or is no longer interested in talking. When they’re together, she’s torn between wanting him to open up and running away as fast as she can. Still she can’t seem to shake her budding interest in him.

Connor has his own way of looking at the world, and his views often conflict with Melinda’s practical nature. Can you like someone and loathe them at the same time? Is he even worth the emotional tug on her heartstrings or distraction from all things Junior year?

And, as if she needs another project right now, Melinda starts to obsess over the abandoned estate she passes on the way to school each day. Between Connor and the old estate, Melinda’s beginning to think she’s taking on too much.

But Melinda’s smart. She finds a way to indulge her interest in the estate and fulfill her obligations. She will uncover the truth behind the aging edifice for an epic article in the school newspaper.

But when her investigation reveals a connection between Connor and a tragedy long-since forgotten, Melinda has a choice: put off her junior year achievements to save a local landmark and a boy who constantly pushes her away or put them both out of her mind for good and focus on making the grade.

Halloween is my FAVORITE holiday! Because of this, I wanted to host a fun giveaway with some YA authors I admire. I’m calling it Blog-o-ween because I’m not very clever. Every Friday for the rest of the month will feature an author and a giveaway!

frenchfriesPayton Carter is one of six kids (all of which are named after famous football players), not to mention the only girl in the Carter household. With this much testosterone and no mother, it’s no wonder she’s absolutely clueless when it comes to makeup, dances, and talking to guys she’s crushing on.

And now she’s about ready to start her freshman year of high school, which is nerve wrenching enough. But when she ends up running into her crush, Chance Montgomery, at her dad’s sports restaurant, she finds out that the quarterback for their rival team is moving to Aller Falls. This is nothing short of fate.

Payton realizes she has to find a way to impress Chance and get him to ask her out or at least know she’s interested in him—preferably without dropping a plateful of fries on his head, like she did last time. After taking her two oldest brothers’ advice, she decides to go out for the freshman football team, figuring that between practices and games she and her crush will surely be able to talk.

And maybe talking will lead to something more permanent or at least to a first kiss. Only this plan backfires in ways she never imagined, when she beats Chance Montgomery out of the starting quarterback position. Now not only does she make him the laughing stock of the team, but also has to figure out how to avoid the snotty cheerleaders, a traitor best friend, not to mention winning games for her team. Too bad this is just the beginning of her freshman year.

Interview

I asked Rebekah some Halloween questions and here are her answers:

Q: If you got trapped in one scary movie, which would choose?
A: Hmmm…I’d have to go with Dracula (LOL). Always been a fan of vampires.

Q: If you could wear one Halloween Costume for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A: OMG, I’d be Princess Leia. She’s my all-time favorite! Seriously (Star Wars FTW). Hahaha

Q: How would you survive a Zombie Apocalypse?
A: I’d barricade myself in my house (after making a supply run down to the store). But after that me and my family would hunker down!

Q: Trick or Treat?
A: Definitely treat

Q: You’re in a horror movie. Are you the final girl, the first to die, the comic relief, the skeptic, the smart one, or the killer?
A: Crap, this is hard because I feel like I could be the comic relief or the final girl. The final girl because my butt would not be running around-I’d find a good hiding spot and stay there until someone else killed the bad guy. However, I love humor and would likely be trying to make light of a bad situation. Could I be both? hahaha

Q: Favorite scary book?
A: In the YA realm I’d have to say one of the creepier ones I’ve read would probably be Long Lankin by Lindsey Barraclough. There were parts in that book that I got SO creeped out.

Q: What’s your favorite Halloween memory?
A: Probably the year my husband and I made a haunted trail for our kids and had people dressed up along the trail, motion sensor monster things, a fog machine etc, and we took them and their friends out on it.

Q: What’s your favorite Halloween costume you’ve had?
A: When I dressed up as Velma from Scooby Doo!

Q: Favorite Halloween candy?
A: Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups or the Caramel Apple Suckers…

August Wrap Up

[Insert generic sentence about how the heck has the year flown by so fast]

School has begun! It is that glorious time of year when writers everywhere can rejoice that their kids are now off to school and the house is finally QUIET AGAIN! After working on some random writings and doing some revisions for my agent, it’s officially time to get to work on my new WIP. I’m calling this one 7DS for short, but I won’t tell you what it means because I’m super secretive about my WIPs. This month I worked on a few things, including brainstorming for 7DS, which is proving to be a tough book to write. Of course, that only makes me love it more.

Going into September, I plan on finally pulling an outline out of my brain for 7DS so that I can start writing it. This one is complicated, with influences from Pretty Little Liars, Gossip Girl, and Mr. Robot to name a few, and I kind of hope to make a series out of it. Although I’d like to have it fully outlined in a week or two, I’m betting it might take me all month. Such is the life of a writer. When it’s worth it, it’s worth it.

As for reading, I manged to read 9 books this month, leaving only a staggering 30+ books on my TBR shelf. They were all great, but my favorite was The Storyspinner by Becky Wallace. Definitely check it out!
